Why does Excel 2002 (XP) try to "recover" my Spreadsheet?

This problem can occur when using an Excel 5.0 / 95 format Source Workbook. It has nothing to do with SpeedGen, it is an Excel XP + Excel 5.0 / 95 bug. Please read Saving to the Excel 5.0 / 95 format

Streaming

Streaming to the Browser, especially when opening Excel in-place, can sometimes be more of an art than a science. Excel and the Internet Explorer sometimes create strange problems that must be worked around. There are answers to common streaming problems in the KnowledgeBase

Why can I see Binary Data (ie. Junk) in the Browser instead of my Excel file?

This is a IIS / Internet Explorer problem, for some reason the Headers are ignored and the Browser does not recognize it as an Excel file.

This usually occurs if you modify your Script and then refresh the Browser. If you load the Script in a new Browser window then this problem will go away.
