| What is a Field Marker? |
|---|
Field Markers are special tags you insert into cells in your Excel Source Workbook to indicate where to insert the data. Definition: Field Markers are case-insensitive strings that begin with the [%Field] or >> Identifier. This tells SpeedGen that the cell is a Field Marker. To Microsoft Excel, they are no different than any other Excel string value.
[%Field] and >> are the same thing. >> is just a shorter way of writing it. Anywhere you see [%Field] in the docs or samples you can substitute it with >> or vice-versa. Here is a List of Field Markers
| Where can I put them? |
Anywhere! You can put Field Markers into any cell in the Source Workbook and SpeedGen will insert as many rows of data as required. Everything that is below the Field Marker will be moved down the Sheet to accommodate the inserted rows. ( unless you disable Stretching )
| What happens to the other cells on a Field Marker Row? |
Any cell that is on a row containing Field Markers will be repeated for each row of data inserted. Formulas, string values, numeric values, etc. will all be repeated. All Formulas are adjusted correctly. To understand how Formulas are handled, read the Formulas section
